A jewel in the Peninsula

Heronswood — a jewel in the Peninsula

This has to be one of the Peninsula’s finest jewels. A visit to Heronswood needs a bit of time to soak up the historic house, the botanical gardens, the Diggers Club Nursery, the amazing views of Port Philip Bay, and of course, lunch and great coffee.

Where else can you find such attention to detail? The very cafe itself is built from local rammed earth, with a thatched (yes, thatched!) roof, using reed harvested from the Tootgarook Swamp. Inside, you’ll instantly be captivated by the rustic warmth, which spills to outdoor seating amongst the raised herb garden in the warmer months. The menu is always committed to the very best that Mother Nature’s seasons have to offer and again, there is fine attention to creative ingredient detail. With such a strong commitment to the use of organic, regional and seasonal produce, Heronswood offers the ultimate in sensory experience.

Designed especially for Heronswood, Five Senses Harvest Blend beautifully compliments the rich and delicious earthiness that exudes from this space. Drop in and be greeted with smiles from the gorgeous staff; feast on the fare and embrace the espresso!

The National Trust classified home was completed in 1871, and is currently owned by Clive and Penny Blazey. The home itself is only open 3 days — Melbourne Cup Day, and the Harvest Festival Weekend in March. So if you’re looking for something to do over the Cup Weekend — visit Heronswood! You’ll find the Five Senses team on the lawn, somewhere under the Moreton Bay Fig, making great coffee to be enjoyed as you share the delights this property has to offer. While you’re at it, you can join the Digger’s Club — buy some seeds, grow some vegies and share in the wealth of knowledge Clive Blazey has to offer. Email info@diggers.com.au
