The Coffee

Coffee Reference Guide

The kind of coffee you create with your batch of 5 Senses is up to you. Above all, we want you to enjoy it fully. But here are a few popular options.

Espresso (Short black)

Single shot (approximately 25ml-30ml) coffee with 5-10mm of golden crema on top. Serve in a small cup or glass.

Flat white

One shot (30ml) of espresso and the rest densely foamed milk. Served in a medium sized cup.

Cappuccino

A single shot (30ml), topped with milk, of which a third is intregrated with light foam (not to look like bubble bath suds), sometimes dusted with chocolate. A typical Italian breakfast beverage.

Latte

Literally, coffee and milk, the latte is made with two parts espresso and six parts of finely textured milk. The milk needs to textured as microfoam (no big bubbles – the 80s are over people!) Serve in a medium-sized glass.

Long black

Fill a medium sized cup 2/3 with hot water then pull a double shot (60ml) on top. Serve immediately.

Ristretto

Double shot of coffee pulled shorter than an espresso. Approx 15ml (slow pour) with 5mm of crema on the surface. Serve in a small cup or glass.

Macchiato (Traditional)

This is a single shot espresso ‘stained’ with about 1 tablespoon of finely textured milk on top (commonly called a ‘short mac.’) A double shot (‘long mac’) has proportionately the same amount of milk as a short mac. Serve in a medium glass.

Long macchiato (WA Style)

A double shot (60ml) in a tall glass filled with heavy and densely textured milk.
